ATLANTA PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP AND US OPEN UPDATES
2009 ATLANTA PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP - RESULTS
From the deep South of the USA in Atlanta, Georgia, Colin Lloyd and James Wade battled through the heat and a host of top players to reach the final of the Atlanta Players Championship. Lloyd rolled through the field and took control early in the final and finishing with a winning score of 6-2.
Wade began his quest defeating the following players in order John Liggett (6-0), Steve Hine (6-4), Peter Manley (6-4), Jamie Caven (6-4), and finally Darin Young in his semi final (6-2) to reach the final.
Lloyd opened his challenge with a 6-0 win over Tom Jackowski. Then he defeated Peter Wright (6-2), and followed up with a 6-0 win over Steve Maish. Lloyd sent Roland Scholten to the showers in his quarter final match 6-3 and defeated Mark Walsh 6-2 in the semi final to reach the final.
Lloyd broke Wade in the first leg of the final to take the early lead. Then he extended his lead to 2-0 winning his start. Lloyd broke Wade for the second time in leg three to move up three legs to none. A couple of 140s helped Wade break back and stop the slide. Wade held serve winning his start in the fifth leg to bring the match back to a 3-2 scoreline with Lloyd on top, but that was the extend of Wade's comback attempt.
Lloyd landed a nice 84 finish for a 14 dart game with Wade resting on 40 after 12 darts to go up 4-2. Lloyd then broke Wade for a third time with a fine 13 dart game shooting 131, 100,100, 134 and 36. Leading 5-2, Lloyd closed the deal on tops for a 6-2 scoreline.

Atlanta Weekend Entries 20 Aug 2009
ENTRY lists for the PDC double-header in Atlanta this weekend.
The PDC Pro Tour travels from Canada - where Dennis Priestley won the Players Championship in London, Ontario last Sunday - to the USA for two tournaments this weekend.
Saturday sees the £22,000 Atlanta Players Championship take place at the Holiday Inn Select, while Sunday will feature the $50,000 PDC US Open.
The two tournaments will be the last to count towards the 2009 North American Order of Merit, which is currently led by Scott Burnett ahead of Darin Young and John Part.
World number two James Wade makes his return to action after taking a break following the stanjames.com World Matchplay.
However, Stoke star Adrian Lewis has withdrawn following the birth of his first child, a daughter, on Wednesday night.
The Atlanta Players Championship will feature 83 players, with the PDC US Open involving 86 players.
Both events will start at 12pm local time, with registration closing at 11am. All games in both tournaments will be the best of 11 legs.
