[Tungsten Carbide]:DISCOVERY OF NATURAL TUNGSTEN CARBIDE (WC) IN CHINA
Natural tungsten carbide, WC, has been discovered recently from Mengyin, Shandong and Danba, Sichuan in China. In Shandong it occurs in kimberlite pipes and veins as intergrowth with serpentinized olivine, phlogopite, Cr-bearing pyroxene, titanian chromite, Cr-bearing ilmenite, Cr-bearing diopside, apatite, zircon, moissanite, rutile, perovskite, mengshanite andyimengite. Natural WC is black and steel-gray in color. The fine grained aggregates range from 0.5 to 4μm in diameter. Physical and optical properties have been measured. Auger energy spectrum shows W:C= 1:1. the strongest diffraction lines in the powder photograph are 2.501(9), 1.874(10), 1.290(8), 1.233(8), 1.148(8), 1.015(9). Lattic parameters refined with least-squaresmethod give hexagonal lattice with a=2.903, c=2.835. 作者重点研究了产于我国山东金伯利岩岩筒和岩脉中的自然碳化钨。矿物呈黑色、钢灰色,细粒集合体,粒径0.5—4μ。俄歇微探计分析W:C=1:1,X射线粉晶衍射强线值为2.501(9),1.874(10),1.290(8),1.233(8),1.148(8),1.015(9)。六方晶系,晶胞参数a=2.903,c=2.835,单位晶胞中含有一个分子的WC。
