Dart Games

There are many different dart games to play. Some are for fun some are great games to play for practice. Here are a few to try out.

Around the Clock.

This is a very easy game, but good practice because it uses the whole board. It also can usually be finished in under 10 minutes. Any number of players can play. Handicapping can be done by limiting the target area for stronger players. Play starts on number 1, moves on to 2 and so on until all three darts are thrown. The winner must hit every number on the board in order and finish before the other players.

Baseball

There are nine innings, just like in a real baseball game. In the first inning each player must shoot for as many 1s as possible. In the second inning each player shoots for 2s. Darts only count by landing on the number for each inning. The game ends after the 9th inning. The player with the most points wins. In the event of a tie the following turns are shot at the bull's eye until the tie is broken.

Cricket Cutthroat

Similar to standard Cricket you must close 15-20 and the bull's eye however the player with the fewest points wins the game. If a player hits a number he has closed, but it is open for an opponent, the points count for the opponent. When a player closes all numbers and has fewer points he wins. If a player has more points he has to shoot until the opponent's points exceeds his total. If two players have the same number of points the game continues until the tie is broken.

21

This is a great practice game because you can play it alone as well as against competitors. Similar to standard Cricket, you shoot for 20-15 and the bull’s-eye. However, you only get one round on each number to shoot as many of that number as possible. You start on 20s and work your way down to bull’s-eye. Darts only count for the number you are shooting at – no slop counts. The objective is to hit at least three of each number (7 total numbers), totaling 21 points.

Super Cricket (Full Board Cricket)

The rules are the same as in standard Cricket, shooting for 20-15 and the bull's-eye, however you also have to close triples, doubles, and beds for all numbers on the board. A "bed", short for "three in a bed", is all three darts in the single area of the same number. You can shoot in any order and you get points for hitting numbers your opponent still has open, including the triples, doubles and beds. A great strategy dart game, it’s best played with 2 players or 2 teams.

Scram

This is a fun strategy game involving two players called the stopper and the scorer. The stopper shoots first and is trying to hit all of the numbers on the board, from 1 through 20, one time, in any order. Once the stopper has hit a number the scorer cannot score points on that number. Once the stopper has hit all of the numbers the scorer adds up his points and the roles are reversed. The objective is to score as many points as possible. In the event of a tie shoot at the bull’s-eye to determine the winner.
