[Nickel]:EFFECT OF GRAIN SIZE ON THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OXIDATION OF TWO Cu-10Ni ALLOYS
The air oxidation behaviors of two Cu-Ni alloys with 10% Ni(mass fraction) but widelydifferent grain sizes have been investigated at 800 and 900℃. Both alloys formed external scales containingan outer farer of CuO especially at 800℃ plus an inner layes of Cu2O.The inner scale is the porous Cu2OmatriX containing a fine distribution of NiO particles. Moreover, an internal oxidation zone of nickel appearsin the alloy. Finally, the growth rates of the external and internal oxide scales of the alloys with small grainsize are both faster than those with bigger grain size. The differences observed above are attributed tolarger effective diffusion coefficients of oxygen and copper both in the alloy and scales, which result from adecrease of the grain size.....Details,please contact the auther, editor directly.
