WO3 Applied for Electrochromic Display

WO3 is a particularly important inorganic electrochromic material that can be used to produce an electrochromic display. According to experts, the electrochromic display is the earliest developed and prepared electrochromic device. Compared with other display devices, such display has the characteristics of no blind angle, high contrast, low driving voltage, rich color, no power consumption and wide operating temperature range. Also, it is easy to manufacture and easy to implement gray scale control.

The tungsten oxide electrochromic display is suitable for large-area display devices that do not require high response speeds. And it is compatible with microelectronic circuits. However, it has long response time. Generally, it takes about several hundred milliseconds, so its power is higher. For example, the power consumption of WO3-LiECD is about 70uw/cm2. Besides, the service life of such display is low, that is, it has the disadvantages of low cycle times. Therefore, the position of electrochromic display is given to the liquid crystal display in the watch display. In large-screen displays such as stock exchanges, stations and other public places, there is still great development value as the above shortcomings will become secondary.
