Experts say that the shielding ability of cesium tungsten bronze (CsxWO3) to specific wavelengths (i.e., the ability to block infrared light, ultraviolet light, and transmit visible light) is closely related to the electrical properties of its crystal. This is because cesium tungsten bronze contains a certain number of carriers, and the incident light in a specific light wave range is absorbed by physical interactions such as surface ion resonance, small polaron, and inter-band transfer of these carriers. So, it is believed that the thermal insulation properties, UV resistance and visible light transmission properties of cesium tungsten bronze are closely related to the electrical properties of the crystal. So, what is carrier? In physics, a carrier refers to a charged substance particle that can move freely. In metals, carriers are free electrons. In semiconductors, carriers are free electrons and holes. According to experts, the Cs+ in cesium tungsten bronze cannot move freely in tungsten bronze structure, so the carriers may be mainly dominated by oxygen vacancies.
