Some experts used 0.5M H2SO4 as the electrolyte, and performed electrochromic characterization of WO3 film in the three-electrode system with Pt plate as the counter electrode and Ag/AgCl as the reference electrode, respectively applying the voltages of 0V (no voltage applied), -0.2V, -0.4V, -0.6V, -0.8V and -1V to the sample to cause electrochromism, and the sample is removed after discoloration for spectroscopic ellipsometry test.

What is a spectroscopic ellipsometry? Spectroscopic ellipsometry is a method for characterizing film thickness and optical constants based on measurements of changes in the polarization state of incident light. Since the optical constant also reflects the internal characteristics of the material, the spectroscopic ellipsometry is also used for the study of oxygen vacancies, carrier density, and polar and phononic properties of thin film materials.
