Tungsten Trioxide Applied for Heat-insulating Anti-explosion Coating

Tungsten trioxide, or WO3, for preparing heat-insulating anti-explosion coating is a transition metal oxide semiconductor with a widely tunable band gap, in the range of Eg=2.5-2.8eV at room temperature. According to the experts, interest was recently put on tungsten trioxide nano particles for the application in so-called smart windows for energy-efficient buildings, flat-panel displays, optical memory and writing-reading-erasing devices. And the tungsten trioxide heat-insulating coating is an energy-saving material for energy-efficient buildings.

Also, tungsten trioxide nanopowder and tungsten trioxide thin films have a wide variety of applications in microelectronics and optoelectronics, dye-sensitized solar cells, colloidal quantum dot LEDs, photocatalysis and photoelectrocatalysis, water splitting photocatalyst as main catalyst and methanol oxidation catalyst. For example, the WO3 can be used as anode materials in lithium ion batteries (LIB) with high hydrophobic properties and improved performances. Environmental applications may also benefit with the use of WO3 as a visible light photocatalyst to generate OH radicals in the wastewater treatment, bacteria destruction and photocatalytic reduction of CO2 into hydrocarbon fuels. Moreover, WO3 shows excellent dingal activity to various gases, such as H2, H2S, NOx, trimethylamine, and other organic compound gases such as acetone sensing in exhaled breath.
