Copper Tungstate

Copper tungstate, also called copper tungsten oxide, is a kind of light gray powder with octahedron configuration. Its CAS number is 13587-35-4. The molecular formula is CuWO4. The molecular weight is 311.38400. And the density is 7.5 g/mL (25/4 °C). It is red when hitting the melting point.

CuWO4, with a structural distortion of wolframite, can be synthesized by the high temperature reaction between CuO and WO3. It is insoluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in acetic acid and soluble in aqueous ammonia. Besides, it has a solubility of 0.1 g/100 mL H2O under 15 degree celsius. It decomposes in inorganic acid. It is stable at room temperature and pressure. And it should avoid light, fire and high temperature. copper tungstate picture
